2025 Winter Big Sky Shootout Registration
Welcome, and thank you for registering for the 2025 Winter Big Sky Shootout Film & Photo Festival. We are thrilled to see what your team creates this season. The Shootout is a full-on visual celebration of Big Sky’s ski community and culture. Your work will ensure that this Big Sky tradition lives on.
Please note that due to the significant increase in the number of film and photo submissions we have seen for the Shootout the last two years, we are moving to a jury selection for the festival. From all of the submissions the jury will select pieces to be included in the Shootout Film & Photo Festival. We wish we could show all of the submissions at the premiere, but the sheer number of submissions and run-time constraints will not allow for this. However, we will be including all of the submissions* in our online film and photo gallery to share with our community and recognize your work.
Festival submissions must be shot within the Big Sky, Montana area during January 15 - March 23, 2025.
If shooting on private property, teams are expected to obtain permission and respect the rules and regulations set forth by the owner/business. Accessing this land is a privilege that private landowners are allowing and by signing/submitting this registration your team/participants agree to respect it as such. Anyone found to be breaking any private property rules may be subject to immediate removal from the property, loss of individual privileges to terrain, and/or face criminal charges.
If shooting on public lands, teams are expected to follow the Rules and Regulations outlined by the Montana Film Office.
Film and photo submissions are to be uploaded via Google Drive. Once we receive your registration form, you will receive a confirmation email and link to your team's unique Google Drive folder. Each team member must also sign and upload the 2025 Big Sky Shootout Waiver to Google Drive for your submission to be complete.
Film length can be anywhere from 30 seconds-5 minutes (.MP4 file format). Photo submissions can be of up to 5 images (.jpeg file format for the digital display and you may provide easel displayed prints of any size for presentation at the premiere). All submissions need to be received by March 23rd, 2025, by midnight.
