ABOUT US

Vision:

For all Big Sky residents and visitors to be aware of and sincerely invested in how their actions can positively impact this community and place now and for generations to come.

Mission:

To cultivate community and Big Sky’s mountain culture through education, outreach, and onboarding.

Execution:

Provide a platform designed to offer users a free series of inclusive experiential learning in safe/fun environments to raise awareness and develop an embodied practice of mountain life skills. This will include an extensive library of video PSA's and lessons, in-person events and ambassador outreach, all conducted and taught by experts in their field.

This platform is funded and made possible by Second Season events, programs and products such as the The Big Sky Shootout Film & Photo Festivals, the PASS IT ON program, Second Season soft goods, and more. Second Season is in the process of becoming an L3C (Low Profit Liability Corporation is a social enterprise allowing to generate a modest profit and sustain the organization while legally responsible for carrying out its social or charitable goals for the greater good).

In short we pay our taxes, are completely self sustainable and beholden only to the community and culture that created us.

History:

Second Season was founded by entrepreneur and Big Sky community activist Erik Morrison. Morrison's move to Montana in 1998 and the community that he found here was impactful. "Green' to the wild mountains of Montana and blissfully unaware, he found kind and capable people with a willingness to share their knowledge and culture.

Indebted to the community that has embraced him and helped foster his success, Morrison continues to look for creative ways to be of service. His work with community partners in 2020 to help manage the pandemic and its strain on infrastructure, services and the very fabric of the Big Sky community was the impetus to develop the Second Season project.
